30 September 1967, saw the launch of the brand new National radio networks.
Tony Blackburn opened Radio 1, and Paul Hollingdale opened Radio 2.
Co-incidentally, on Monday, 8 March, 1976, Paul Hollingdale opened the local commercial radio station serving the Reading, Berkshire, area, Radio 210 (Two-One-Oh), from their former ambulance station studios in Calcot, just outside the county town of Berkshire.
