“The More It Burns… The Less We Understand”

In 1971, scientists drilling for natural gas accidentally created something terrifying.

A massive crater collapsed beneath the Earth…

releasing poisonous gas into the air.

So they made a decision:
set it on fire.

They believed it would burn for a few days.

More than 50 years later…

the fire is still burning.

Known today as “The Door to Hell,” this mysterious crater in the middle of the desert has become one of the strangest places on Earth.

And the deeper scientists looked into it…

the less it made sense.
