Bernstein World War II Veteran U.S. Marine Corps Natick Veterans Oral History Project
Sam Bernstein joined the Marines in 1943, one of five Bernstein brothers in the service. He learned how to use camouflage, and instructed other Marines while stationed in Camp Pendleton. Bernstein became part of the 5th Marine Division, and would take part in the battle of Iwo Jima as a machine gunner and guard.
