Defending Steph Curry: Jrue Holiday, JJ Redick Discuss how Curry is an "Alien"

Damian Lillard played a series against Jrue Holiday and the New Orleans Pelicans a few years ago, where they trapped him consistently and aggressively, and disrupted the offense so much that Lillard never had a big game. The Pelicans swept the Blazers 4-0, and Lillard averaged around 19 points for the series, and surely never forgot it.

Jrue Holiday, whom Dame calls the NBA's best defender among the guards, talked to JJ Redick about guarding both Dame and Curry. He mentions how he uses "tricks" like fouling the shooter on the follow through, holding, mind games, etc. and tries to keep them out of their zone, but sometimes nothing works.

He goes on to call Steph Curry an alien, because of some of the things Curry has been doing on the court, and I'm sure if you've been watching, you'd agree. High praise from a truly elite defender, something we don't have a lot of in the game today.

This kind of reminded me of Tony Allen talking about guarding Kobe, and older players talking about guarding MJ, so I hope you enjoy this short video I put together about Steph Curry. We are witnessing a once in a lifetime talent at the point guard position, and I'm happy to see he's getting his respect for it.
