The Assistant is much more than "The Harvey Weinstein movie" | Review

Entry 75: Kitty Green's latest film is her first time going full-on narrative, and she's come out with a powerhouse. I watched both of her previous features after this one (sadly, I couldn't find her shorts), and I must say that Green is such a fascinating filmmaker and I'm extremely curious to see where she goes from here. Casting JonBenet is unlike any doc I've ever seen, and the thematic links between The Assistant and Ukraine is Not a Brothel make them one hell of a double feature. The former is available on Netflix and the latter on Tubi, so, like, you should definitely watch them and also The Assistant.
