1. Cooling Mode -- The fan sucks air through the radiator. Debris is also collecting in the radiator fins, causing less air to flow though the radiator. As the debris builds up, overheating occurs.

2. Changeover -- Each fan blade rotates on its own individual axis. This is the start of the purge or clean-out mode.

3. Cleaning Mode -- After all blades have rotated 180 degrees, the fan blows air through the radiator for a short period of time. This removes the debris from the radiator.

After the cleaning mode the fan automatically returns to the cooling mode. All this happens while the engine is running at any RPM. The system is programmable, which allows one to determine how often the fan will automatically purge.
