Painting a Silicone Baby

A video showing you step by step how I paint a silicone baby head, including cutting out and inserting eyes, opening mouth, painting and then matting.
Everybody has their own favourite collection of colours and materials they use and I do use different colours every time I paint, but people do often ask so the materials I mention and use in this video are:
• Psycho Paint A and B
• Bob Ross thinner
• SilcPig silicone pigments: blood, blue
• SAM silicone pigments: cyan, violet, magenta, hot red, warm yellow.
• SAM matting powder

Concerning force-curing, some people do NOT recommend this - it differs from artist to artist. As you will see from the video, I do choose to force cure. The silicone cures at different speeds according to the temperature in the room - a very hot day it would cure quickly. I force cure my silicone paint at a very low temperature, the lowest it will go on my oven which is around 120 - 125 degrees, to mimic the temperature of a room on a very warm day, and I place in the oven for around five to ten minutes for thin layers to cure, and the final seal coat and matting I leave for longer, around 15 minutes. I recommend you decide for yourself whether you choose to force cure or not, and also take into consideration any health and safety issues concerning putting products containing paint thinners into your oven, the possible fire risks if it is a gas oven, and also the risk of somebody turning the oven up and ruining your work.
