2020 YT Industries Jeffsy 29 First Impressions - This bike rocks!

Today we're out in Pisgah National Forest to get a first impression ride on the new 2020 Jeffsy 29 by riding Buckwheat Knob into Bennett Gap.

I absolutely love this wheel size on this bike, I had always ridden 27.5 bikes and for years had been very vocal about not finding 29ers to be enjoyable, but it seems that after much evolution the bike industry in general has figured out how to make this things rip and still be fun, they no longer feel to me like they have big clunky wagon wheels. And, I'm not saying 29er are better, there's a lot of reasons to prefer 27.5 and I do belive in the end its a matter of personal preference, but what I am saying is that 29ers are better than ever, and if there's ever been a time to consider one, now is it.

I was amazed by this bikes ability to balance its added length while still retaining its ability to deal with slower, tight tech. I was expecting that the penalty of the bigger wheels and longer frame would be bigger, but it in these situations it seems to be non-existent. In many ways I didn't feel like I had bigger wheels, except when it mattered, which was a big concern I had for sections like there where I'd be going slower. The bike also remained composed under braking, whether in slow terrain or fast chunk it didn't suffer from any kind of dive or loss of traction. I found myself letting go of the brakes a lot more just because of the added confidence.

And I do mean it, its quite amazing how you can point it into a sea of roots at speed and the frame will stay incredibly stable as the suspension works its magic, sucking up all the terrain as if nothing. I loved my old bike, but this one inspire gobs more confidence.

What all this means is that I'm overwhelmingly happy I chose this bike, I find that it's better than the previous Jeffsy in every sense, it may sound cliche, but this bike really does climb and descend better.
