Australia has some of the ‘most expensive energy’ despite being a ‘superpower’

Macrobusiness Chief Economist Leith Van Onselen says Australia should have “incredibly cheap” energy as a superpower, but due to policy failures, has some of the “most expensive energy in the world" instead.

“We export the line share of our coal, the line share of our gas, we’re an energy superpower," he told Sky News host Sharri Markson.

“We should have incredibly cheap energy.

“Through policy failures we actually have some of the most expensive energy in the world, and as a result we have a whole congo line of manufacturers that are going broke or have warned they are going to exit Australia."
