The Mercedes-Benz Fabrics -
In short, Alcantara is a premium fabric that is used to enhance the interior of cars. Some might think Alcantara is a leather or leatherette, it's actually a man-made replacement for suede.
Alcantara is extensively used by many car brands these days. Some of them include Mercedes Benz, BMW and Porsche.
Benefits of Using Alcantara is better material quality - The fabric is manufactured by the Alcantara company in Italy. Being a microfiber material consisting of 68% polyester and 32% polyurethane. The touch of alcantara feels like suede. It is a premium material which is durable and long lasting. Alcantara has top-grade aesthetic, technical and sensory qualities rarely found in other materials. Elegant, comfortable, light-weight, strong and 100% carbon neutral, are qualities that make it the first choice for premium car brands and easy to maintain as well as scratch and fire-resistant material. Alcantara is not an animal product - Alcantara is a synthetic microfiber fabric and provides a strong grip with a soft and premium touch.

Most Mercedes-Benz interiors are upholstered with Mercedes faux leather, a vinyl material called MB Tex. It looks like leather, and is often mistaken for real leather, but is much more durable and lasts, seemingly, forever without cracking or wearing. MB tex has been the standard interior material in the C-Class and E-Class sedans, the GLK, M and GL-Class SUVs, and now – since they switched the names of all the different ‘classes’ – the GLC, GLE and GLS model SUVs and still, C and E class cars, among other models. MB-Tex upholstery is Mercedes-Benz creation that is a more affordable supplement for leather. The material is actually made up of Vinyl as opposed to the cow hide that is used for leather. To the upholstery-illiterate driver (most of us), the differences are extremely minimal, which is why it is often mistaken for actual leather. Just because it isn’t actual leather, though, doesn’t make it inferior to the Designo leather that comes standard in high-end Mercedes-Benz models. It’s actually a matter of preference and many people prefer the benefits of MB-Tex.

Nappa leather is top-quality leather that undergoes a unique tanning process and is softer and pliable. Nappa Leather was named for the Napa Valley in California, where the tanning company that developed it was located. Nappa leather is often used in upscale Mercedes-Benz vehicles as well as other luxury models. However, you might also see it used on lower-grade leather products and even synthetic leather to denote softness — so the name has been stretched and sometimes misused. Nappa leather is full grain, meaning that the surface hasn’t been modified except to remove hair, so it retains its original texture and markings. Lesser grades of leather often are “corrected” to make the surface smoother and more uniform. Like all types of leather, Nappa can be dyed to different colors. Nappa Leather uses a unique tanning process that uses sulfates increases the softness and durability of Nappa leather, and the use of water-soluble dyes makes it more resistant to fading. Nappa is a prime cut of animal hide, so it is more expensive than most types of leather. Most of it comes from cows, but it also can come from calves, lambs or goats, and it is the top layer of hide that is softer than other layers and more durable.
