After proper training from qualified and experienced River Guide / Instructors, Dories, Drift Boats, Rafts and Catarafts can take you to amazing river paradises. Private and Guide Training Programs are available through the Outdoor Ventures river training program.

This particular private river journey was taken on the Colorado River via the Grand Canyon in March 2016. The river was flowing between 7000 and 14000 cfs. The wood dory is an 18x54 McKenzie hull design with Briggs style compartments, footwells and hatches. The whole boat is 100% self-bailing, even the footwells.

We spent 24 days, rowing, camping, hiking, drifting and exploring the awe inspiring "Big Ditch" from the bottom up in our little home built wood whitewater dories. 3 were historic Cataract style boats and 3 were Dory style boats.
