Interview with a Foster Child Now Adopted from Foster Care

In this interview with a foster child, or really a child adopted from foster care, we discuss the impact of Social Worker's words and truth telling to foster children and adopted children.

When the court, case workers or social workers avoid telling children the truth, avoid telling foster parents the truth, or avoid telling biological parents the truth they rob those advocating for the child. The sense of unity that would promote lifelong healing is diminished.

Also, when the court misleads biological parents (in our case one with severe physical limitations and a terminal illness) into believing that they may reunify with their child in foster care, it is unfair and soul crushing to those who care about the foster child.

Robert does a great job of explaining his thoughts and feelings about how a social worker/case worker should interact with a foster child, especially during the first few months.

He also discusses the complicated nature of truth telling with adopted children and foster children. This applies to social workers as well as foster or adoptive parents.
