12 Angry Men: A Conversation on Being a Black Man in America
From Ferguson to Chicago, recent high-profile cases of police abuse and racial profiling have sparked waves of protests and captured headlines. But generations of African-American men know these injustices far too well, their personal stories and stinging experiences passed down as a contemptible legacy.
A new reimagined production directed by Tony-Award nominee Stephen McKinley Henderson is giving voice to the stories of 12 everyday men from diverse walks of life — all of whom have been subjected to racial profiling. Based on the 2012 book, "12 Angry Men: True Stories of Being a Black Man in America Today," the production is poised for a national tour and is currently in an extended sold-out run at The Kumble Theater, presented by The Billie Holiday Theatre at The Center for Arts & Culture of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation.
Join us at The Greene Space for a conversation with Henderson and actors Wendell Pierce (The Wire and Treme), Roger Robinson (Joe Turner’s Come and Gone and How to Get Away with Murder) and Stephen Tyrone Williams (Children of God). Hosted by WNYC’s Rebecca Carroll.
