El Tango de Roxanne ( String Quartet )

Roxanne's Tango is part of the musical universe of the musical Moulin Rouge. It is a mash up based on two original songs, the first is a 1957 tango composed by the great argentine composer Mariano Mores called "Tanguera", the second is a classic from The Police composed by Sting in 1978. The result is a powerful song that, with the help of an arrangement for string quartet, becomes one of the best sessions we have been able to share throughout this project.

The string quartet is perhaps the most iconic ensemble of classical music, and at the same time it is one of the most difficult to manage, there is so much musicality, so much emotional information in two violins, a viola and a cello that this has been a journey of learning.

And this is where the great work of these four talented Venezuelan musicians with whom we share a day in the studio lies. Buriel is a project directed by the violinist maestro Héctor Buriel (Barcelona, Anzoátegui, Venezuela) who has been making music in Peru for a couple of years and has brought together a spectacular human group. In the first violin is the teacher Ausberto Rivas (Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela), in the viola is the maestro Pedro Gómez (Punto Fijo, Falcón, Venezuela), and in the Cello the teacher Carlos Arias (Coro, Falcón, Venezuela) .

Music says it all. Between passages singing like a bandoneon going through small moments of genius between rubatos and glissandos, moving between tonal changes like who was born for it, and sharing the main melody among all and working in a team in a way I had not seen in years. A different note.

Music unites us.
