The Gyrofocus was voted 'World's Most Beautiful Object' in the famous Pulchra Design Competition. To this lofty perch it comes from humble beginnings. In 1967, when French sculptor Dominique Imbert banged together a simple scrap metal fireplace to heat his freezing studio, he had no idea his design would garner international acclaim. Far from your traditional hearth, the free-standing suspended fireplace looks more like a piece of art. Maybe that’s why it’s a permanent fixture at museums around the world.
