HOW TO: Charge a Seiko Kinetic with an Electric Toothbrush charger

For this little hack all you need is an electric toothbrush charger and a Seiko Kinetic.

The toothbrush charger must be of the "induction charger" variety (ie: wireless) for this to work.

How this works is that the Seiko Kinetic has a Charging Coil inside it that generates electricity when the rotor spins around inside the watch. When the watch is placed onto the induction charger with the coil directly under the charging point, it receives direct charging to the coil.

Have a look at the documentation for your Kinetic model and try and identify the "Charging Coil", as most Kinetics have two coils. Once you know this you can accurately place the watch on the charger. OR, you could just try a few different places and keep a record of where works best.

I recommend you check the watch every hour and don't leave it unattended for more than 3 hours. My watch becomes slightly warm (warmer than ambient) when charging correctly.
