Friedrich Schorr and Elizabeth Rethberg: "Sieh' Evchen! " From Die Meistersinger. 1929

Friedrich Schorr (1888-1953) and Elisabeth Rethberg (1894-1976) are counted among the greatest Wagnerians of all time. Schorr was very highly regarded for his beautiful and elegant singing, and for the truthful portrayal of his many Wagnerian characters. Rethberg was very successful in Wagner, and, unusually, also praised for her work in the Italian repertoire.
