Volkswagen Golf 2 1,6D 1984 tachometer conversion.

The cluster that was in it didn't work right. At night the cluster lights were dim and the high beam indicator didn't work. So I saw this one online and pick it up. It plugs in, but as you can see the tach didn't work. It turns out on diesel VW the tach gets a signal from the alternator and the gas version gets it from the distributor. The alternator on this one didn't have a W port from were the tach gets it's signal so I bought an alternator from a 1,6TD 51KW Golf and of course it didn't fit. So I made one out of the two. Then I just needed to hook a W port wire to the cluster and the tachometer worked.
