Vishnu Sahasranamam full version

Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam consists of 1000 namas(names) of MahaVishnu. It is an integral part of Sri Mahabharata composed by Sage Vedavyasa. Over many yugas, various rishi’s did samarpanam of these names to the lotus feet of the lord. All these names were hidden in the Veda’s, in the sastra’s, and in the Puranas. These names were carefully chosen and made as a beautiful garland by Sri Bishmaacharya like how various precious gems from various places are made as a garland by a goldsmith. The history goes as Bhishmacharya was awaiting the sacred hour to depart from his physical body unto the lotus feet of the Lord. Yudhishtira, the eldest of the Pandavas, was desperately looking for the answers to matters relating to Dharma and Karma. Lord Sri Krishna, who understood Yudhistira’s uneasy mind, guided him to Bhishmaarchaya (who was on the arrow bed) to learn insight into the precious knowledge. During the meeting, Bhishmaarcharya revealed that param daivam(supreme master) is Lord Mahavishnu (Bhagavan Sri Krishna) and revealed all 1000 names in front of HIM. Sri Vishnusahasranamam has three parts namely Purva bhagam which is primarily a conversation between King Yudhistira and Bhishmaarcharya, dhyana, and secondly 1000 namas of Bhagavan in 108 stanzas, and finally, Uttara bhagam which describes the Phala sruthi (benefits) of reciting Sri Vishnusahasranamam. Chanting Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam Sthothram every day will remove all the sins accumulated in several janmas or lifetimes, purify us, connect us to Lord Mahavishnu in our heart, and will give immense punyam or spiritual merit thus we will get mukthi in this janma or lifetime itself.

The Vishnu Sahasranama is a mantra that consists of the 1000 auspicious names of Lord Vishnu, the supreme almighty. It is a mantra that has been mentioned several times in the pages of Hindu mythology and has retained its greatness even to this day
