The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing Musical Story I Big Bad Wolf I Fables I The Teolets
You are watching 'The Wolf in Sheep's Clothing', a musical adaption of an Aesop's Fable recreated by The Teolets. The story helps teach children that they should be cautious of those who pretend to be harmless, as an enemy can be disguised as a friend. This idiom is a warning that one cannot necessarily trust someone simply because they appear to be kind and friendly.
The phrase 'a wolf in sheep's clothing' is an idiom. This means that someone or something that seems friendly may actually intend to harm you.
There was a man who lived about 2,600 years ago whose name was Aesop. He lived in Greece. He told this story:
'There was once a Wolf who could not get enough to eat because the shepherds who watched the sheep were good at their job. But one afternoon the wolf found a sheep skin just laying there on the ground. The wolf put on the skin, tied it tight and quietly slipped into the flock of sheep. One little sheep, mistaking the wolf for her mother followed the wolf. Finally, the wolf turned around and snapped it up before the shepherds even noticed.
That evening when the sheep went back to the barn, the wolf went too as he thought that he might get hungry later.
A bit later, the farmer decided he wanted to eat lamb stew for dinner. He went into the barn and chose a sheep. It was actually the wolf. The wolf ended up cooked in the stew.'
The story Aesop told is a fable. A fable is a story with a lesson hidden in it, and a moral is what you can learn from the story.
The moral of this story is manifold. It tells us that appearances can be deceptive and one should be careful when interacting with people. It also teaches that if you seek to do harm, then be prepared for the consequences as harm will come to you too. For a young child, its very important to learn that evil deeds will always have an evil end. Children should be watchful of people around them. Not everyone who appears good and friendly is actually so. If observed properly, one's basic nature eventually shows through any kind of disguise.
