Former correction officers charged in brutal beating of inmate Robert Brooks offered plea deals

The 10 former corrections officers involved in the brutal beating death of Robert Brooks now have plea deals to consider after appearing in court in Utica on Monday.

During a pre-trial hearing on Monday, Special Prosecutor Bill Fitzpatrick - the Onondaga County District Attorney - confirmed with Judge Robert Bauer and each defense team that everyone had the disposition paperwork to consider guilty pleas. The ten officers were indicted by an Oneida County grand jury in February, with six facing murder charges.
