Kedarnath is one of the most sacred pilgrimages of Lord Shiva situated in Rudraprayag district of Garhwal region in Uttarakhand. Kedarnath is one of the Char Dham in Uttarakhand and the most important dham among Panch kedar. Kedarnath is situated at an altitude of 3586 mts (11760 ft), in the lap of the majestic mountain peaks and near the head of river Mandakini, Kedarnath range stands one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.

You can reach Kedarnath only after a trek of 16 km through paved road from Gourikund. You can take horse or ponies to climb up the steep path. Gourikund is connected by road from Haridwar,Dehradun,Rishikesh and some other regions of Uttarakhand. After a flash flood of 2013, june which greatly affected the Kedarnath region. It has been restored and work has been done by Nehru institute of mountaineering (NIM) to revive Kedarnath to its former glory. The NIM has set up sheds after every kilometer so that pilgrims can take rest during the trek.
