Teddy Bunn guitar solo on “Hell in my Heart” (rec. 1937 with Jimmie Noone Orchestra)
Here I’m taking a pass at a tasty single-note guitar solo played by the underrated Teddy Bunn on the 1937 recording of “Hell In My Heart” with the Jimmie Noone Orchestra. I’ve heard that he played this without a pick! I’m guessing he was pretty close to the mic in order to be heard in the context of the band. Check out the original recording- beautiful playing and singing all around. And if you haven’t heard of Teddy Bunn, look him up! He played on many great recordings with Noone, Sidney Bechet, Johnny Dodds, and some solo blues recordings. Always great feeling in his playing. Enjoy
The guitar is a 1930 Gibson L5. Recording is just via iPhone so audio is not great, but it’s there
