13 Things to Know Before Coming to Korea

Open for more tips!!!

In having lived in Korea for 5+ years now, I wish someone had shared these things with me when I first moved here. So whether you're visiting for the first time or planning on moving here, I hope these tips are helpful in the slightest!

Here are a few more notable and equally important mentions that just didn't make the cut for the video.

+ Expect employees to follow you around in stores; retail has a service based culture here so workers stay close to help answer any questions/guide you through the store. They're not trying to annoy you nor do they suspect you of being a thief - it's just the way things are here.
+ The cafe culture here is unparalleled. There is a huge emphasis on aesthetic, trendy cafes and most people will resort to these spaces usually after having a meal together/to chat. Going to a cafe after an activity is practically embedded into the culture now.
+ Korea for the most part is very safe and has a solid trust based culture - you can leave your things sprawled out across a table for hours on end and no one will take them. (Though I obviously don't recommend you do this for funsies...)
+ You can get by without buying 'roaming' or overseas data for your phone because wifi is available practically everywhere in Korea. Not the mention, the Internet speed here again, is unmatched. To be safe, I recommend you purchase a portable wifi 'egg'. These are available at the airport but also at cellular shops all around town.
