TOPIC: ARE WE OPEN TO RECEIVING GOD’S GIFTS OF PEACE, JOY AND TRUTH TODAY?

First Reading: Acts 20: 28-38

Gospel: John 17: 11b-19

In today’s Gospel reading, which is a loving and tender passage, Jesus prayed to the Father for every one of his followers, including us, to be “consecrated in the Truth”, so that all may be one as the Lord and the Father are one. Jesus knew that His time on earth was short. His concern for His people shines through, knowing that soon He would be leaving them. Jesus asks his Father to keep them, including us, in His name, and for each one to remain in the truth. Jesus’ prayer shows that He longs for his “flock” to be protected and safe even when He is no longer with them.

What a caring and loving shepherd we have!
