Stella and Luke - Looking Back
It seems like forever ago that I was documenting my son Luke’s struggle with bilateral clubfoot and the surgeries/castings he had to deal with for so long.
I started posting about it after both Stella and Luke had been through intense surgical procedures - Stella with bilateral TPLO surgery and Luke with various operations and clubfoot corrections from day one. At that point we knew Stella’s knees were in the clear but had no idea what was ahead for Luke and his feet.
As time went on and we faced the reality of Luke needing more invasive surgeries and months in casts without being able to walk, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to publicly chronicle his tough times. I can say now that it was incredibly therapeutic and I’m so glad I did.
We didn’t have half the online following back then, but so many of you were with us through it all. The words of love and encouragement surpassed anything we ever could have expected, and my family is forever grateful. I never imagined the compassion of strangers could effect me so deeply.
I put together some of the videos from those emotional days into a semi-cohesive timeline.
Luke’s feet are doing very well now and hopefully all of this is in the past, but I know that if he were to ever relapse, we’ve got the best support system in the world.
