386/486 System with VLB Slots

An overview and benchmark of a 386 system which also features a 486 socket and VESA Local Bus. It is a rather stubborn machine in rough shape, but it shows what the 486 could do versus the 386 and how impressive Cyrix's DLC chips were in places. It also lets us see how well the 386 would hold up if it had VLB - as you can guess, not really that great and it probably uses some kind of bridge anyway.

I feel this isn't one of the better videos, but it had to be done. I definitely think the Pentium II will be next.

In all likelihood I'll run this thing until it dies and then restore 'Melanie' to running order, my original 486DLC machine. Might move the GUS to the PPro as it seems fitting, but it doesn't get along with that board at all.
