Here in this video we have one of my favorite and one of my least favorite digital pianos in this price class that money can buy. The P515 is a powerhouse of a digital piano that sports rich, quality sounds, a substantial but highly responsive wooden action, loud and powerful speakers, and an intuitive user interface. Meanwhile, the RD88 has sounds that range from being OK to truly sub-par, a sluggish action that feels anything but crisp, it has tiny, weak speakers that make it sound worse than it actually is, and a complex, convoluted interface that isn't easy to navigate.

Its biggest flaw however is that the volume differences between the different sounds are incredible. Recording with it is a nightmare. The piano sounds are whisper quiet, but the EP sounds are considerably louder. It's so extreme that one patch can be recorded just fine, but the very next sound, in the same bank, causes my audio interface to peak like crazy! It gives me very little confidence while recording with the RD-88, and while it might be OK for a live situation, if you plan on doing any recording at all, I'd suggest avoiding the RD-88. It's too difficult to work with.

Contrary to popular belief, I am not affiliated or sponsored by Yamaha, Kawai, or any other piano company you see featured on the channel. All of these products were purchased with revenue from the YouTube channel, and I'm just here to give you my honest thoughts and opinions.
