2019 Campagna-Kerven Lecture Survivors Into Minorities: Armenians in Post-Genocide Turkey

The 2019 Campagna-Kerven Lecture on Modern Turkey featured Dr. Lerna Ekmekçioğlu, a McMillan-Stewart Associate Professor of History at MIT. In this lecture, she applies her work on minority-majority relationships and gender analysis to the status of Armenians in Turkey before, during, and after the genocide that took place at the end of 20th century Ottoman rule. Dr. Ekmekçioğlu makes a compelling case for understanding coexistence and conflict between Armenians and Turks in the context of 19th and 20th century events.

Sponsored by the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and the Institute for the Study of Muslim Societies & Civilizations.
