Anyone critical of COVID measures is 'accused of being a granny-killer'

Sky News host Rita Panahi says the lack of accountability for Australia's leaders is insane as anyone who's critical of any measure is "accused of being a granny-killer".

She said the National Cabinet - established in March to streamline the decision-making process - has become a "protection racket" for all those leaders involved.

"Basically, you've got the premiers being reluctant to be critical of the prime minister, and the prime minister reluctant to be critical of the premiers and chief ministers," Ms Panahi said.

"Regardless of how hare-brained their decisions are".

Sky News host Rowan Dean said Prime Minister Scott Morrison deliberately chose to "avoid party room accountability" in establishing the National Cabinet.

"(He) deliberately chose to avoid the fundamental basis that our country runs on and has always run on, that the party room, even the most humble back bencher, has a say on what's going on," he said.

"He bypassed that, and instead of me in NSW getting MPs and Senators from NSW speaking up we had Daniel Andrews and Annastacia Palaszczuk deciding the rules".
