Lapwings have returned to the Peak District 🐦

These migratory birds return to the Peak District each year for breeding season 🐣

A red-listed species, if you see these birds about please take care! As they are a ground nesting bird, it's important to keep dogs on leads and stick to the paths 🐶

Lapwings are very distinctive birds for two reasons:
1. their spoon shaped wings
2. their call

I think their call sounds like trying to tune-in to an old fashioned radio 📻
