Rethymnon is the capital of its region on the island of Crete (Greece). Rethymnon has approximately 55,000 residents and a beautiful historic center. The beach of Rethymnon is 20km long and very popular among tourist from central and Northern Europe. The cities has many Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman remains like the Fortezza (Fortress) and the Loggia (Town Hall). Rethymnon has also a long boulevard for pedestrians along the beach.
