Some of you may notice, that this is a new bass! My fiancé got it for me, so I thought it was fitting to use it in this video :) You also might notice it's missing a strap, and it's also missing a spot on the guitar rack. I've got to get myself a strap and a slot to add on to the rack. I might use some Christmas money to get them for myself :)

So, not many people gave me feedback this year on what Christmas tune they'd like to hear, so I picked one from the few people that did respond. Jingle Bell Rock is a classic, and it's amazing that the classic version of the song is the one that's still popular to this day. When I was younger, I remember listening to the local radio station (Sunny 99.1) and listen to the Christmas music that would start the day after Thanksgiving out in my backyard with my boombox. I've always enjoyed Christmas since that's when my family traveled to visit our extended family. We didn't get to see them outside the holidays very much and so I always looked forward to it. As time has gone on, the versions of these Christmas songs that I like aren't always played on the radio anymore, but that tends to happen with any genre of music. It's nice that this one has stayed up there and so it made me happy to get as a request to do it.

So, naturally, there aren't going to be many live performances of this song by the original artist Bobby Helms.
Luckily, I found one that showed a general positioning for the bassist. You could easily play the song in 3 different positions. One being easiest, but for the newest players, one being the most artistic and professional, and the last would likely need a specific reason to play, because it's high up on the E and A strings for seemingly no reason.

Obviously, a session player was the original bassist, and I'm having trouble finding who that person is, however, it's likely that the session player played in about the same positioning shown here. It also sounds like it was originally a double bass as well.
