I speak with an EV pioneer, Farhan Abdul Rahim, on his journey towards Electric Vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia and his personal outlook on the future of EVs in the country. With 10.5m cars in Malaysia's roads and 500 EVs nationwide (0.005% of total), EV adoption has significant headroom for growth. Malaysia's Government has just passed legislation eliminating taxes for EVs from 2021-2023 to accelerate adoption. Farhan is one of the rare 60+ Tesla owners in Malaysia, and I had the privilege of experiencing my first Tesla ride in Malaysia with him.
