Driving the EU: Where next? IRU’s 50th anniversary in Brussels – JOIN US 27 JUNE 2023

A special event celebrating 50 years of IRU representation to the EU
IRU, the world road transport organisation, was established in Geneva in 1948 to help war-torn Europe rebuild its devastated trade and commercial links.

Driving the EU: Where next? IRU’s 50th anniversary in Brussels will be held in Brussels' Town Hall25 years later, on 1 July 1973, we opened a permanent representation to the then European Economic Community in Brussels to collaborate with European authorities and support transport companies in moving people and goods.

To mark this important milestone, we will host a special anniversary event featuring the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Brussels City Mayor Philippe Close, government ministers from Belgium, Lithuania and Spain, along with EU authorities and road transport industry leaders from companies such as SITRA, Shell, Sales-Lentz Group, SAMAT, Jan de Rijk Logistics, Alsa, and ADAMPOL.
