Apple doesn’t ignore open source, it just engages on its own terms.

Famously, when Apple needed a Linux print server on macOS, it didn’t rewrite the Linux Print Server. It bought the company and licensed the software.

That pattern repeats all the way down:
* Core tools like LLVM
* GNU heritage everywhere
* For a long Emacs was the bundled code editor

Even highly controlled platforms rely on decades of open-source work underneath.The polish is proprietary.The foundations aren’t.
