NSW state election shows it’s possible to win an election by ‘going positive’
Sky News contributor Joe Hildebrand says the NSW state election shows it is possible to win an election by “going positive” when commenting on how the Voice failed.
The Voice to Parliament was rejected in a referendum on October 14, with 61 per cent of the nation voting No.
“I think also the referendum has just shown that if you try to go negative that can also backfire terribly,” he told Sky News host Paul Murray.
“I mean a referendum is a very different thing to a general election because it’s not ‘one side has to win’.
“If you’re running a referendum campaign you have to make a positive case for change otherwise nothing happens; just attacking the other side doesn’t work.”
