Vulture’s Tear Apart Carcass | Wildlife in 360 VR

Chaos ensures over the carcass of an African buffalo.

When in a feeding frenzy such as this one, the Rüppell's vulture is highly adapted to eating carcass meat, hide, and even bones. They have a specialized tongues with backwards-facing spikes to help tear flesh from bone so as to not leave even the tiniest piece behind.

Rüppell's vultures are also considered to be the highest-flying bird, reaching altitudes of 11,300 m (37,000 ft) above sea level, cruising altitude for many commercial jets. Their species is in steep decline however, and are listed as endangered due to habitat loss and incidental poisonings.

Filmed in 5K 360.
