Railfanning Across Connecticut And Massachusetts Over Presidents Day Weekend 2-17 And 2-19-18

It all started on the morning of 2-17-18, when I got a text from my good friend Gianni, saying that a rare Saturday run of Pan Am Railways EDPL was running that day, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity and we met up. After seeing Shuttle 463, we saw EDPL with P&W 2009 in the lead. After that, we chased the train to New Britain. After seeing it 2 other times, we went back to the Springfield Line for some more Amtrak action. After we caught Regional 140 in Longmeadow, we packed up for the day. On Presidents Day, we decided to head up to Palmer for some railfanning there. After seeing CSX B740 with CSOR 2038 3rd out and 2 NECR trains, we gave up and went back to the Springfield Line. Before we saw Vermonter 54 in Longmeadow, we got word that Pan Am Railways PLED went through New Britain at noon with the beast (350) leading. We got a few more Amtrak trains in Windsor, after a very late 57 flew through Windsor, the northbound signal went green and we raced up to Longmeadow. Luckily, the green signal was for PLED, and just before the last bit of light went away, PLED rounded the corner a few miles away. Unfortunately for me, my shot got ruined by a rain drop, so Gianni let me borrow his shot. After that, we got 488 a crossing north. My phone died after PLED flew past us, so I had nothing to record with, so I borrowed Gianni's shot yet again. At least I have good friends to railfan with. After 488, we got some food and went home.
