We Have Baby Weedy Seadragons!

Some exciting news to share: We have baby weedy seadragons! 💙

For the first time ever, we have had a successful weedy seadragon hatching. After 15 years of attempting to breed our seadragons, these babies came as a happy surprise to our aquarists!

Last May, our staff discovered that the male weedy seadragon was carrying eggs inside his exhibit. He was quickly moved off exhibit for extra attention and care, and eight weeks later the eggs hatched! Our aquarists have been raising the babies behind-the-scenes, and several of the ~20 babies will be moved on exhibit in the summertime, while others may move to other aquariums to help diversify genetics for future breeding efforts.
