14 Days in The Kruger National Park South Africa | Part 1

We spent 14 days travelling through the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Before entering the park proper, we spent 2 nights at a luxury private game lodge, Simbavati Hilltop Lodge, in the Timbavati Private Game Reserve, which as part of the Greater Kruger National Park.

Entering at Orpen Gate, which is roughly midway between the northern and southern boundaries, we first headed north to Olifants Rest Camp, one of my favourite camps in the Kruger Park. Our original plan was to go from there to Sirheni Bush Camp in the far north, but heavy rains had washed away the access roads so we stayed at Bateleur Bush Camp instead. Heading south from there our next stop was Tamboti Tented Camp, also a bush camp with few facilities, but the real African bush experience.

Game viewing in this area wasn't that great for the big predators, but plenty of elephants and other game. The Kruger National Park is a world famous game reserve for good reason, because once we headed south, we experienced some of the best game viewing yet. That will be in part 2, coming up next.
