Fixing a leaking shower curb. NOT Recommended. I tore out this shower curb in the hope of stopping a leak to the downstairs ceiling. I am actually not very confident that the curb was the actuals source of the leak. No waterproofing was used during the installation of the shower, so a leak can happen anywhere in the shower. The most common locations of leaks in a shower like this is first the shower curb, then the bench seat and all the corners in a shower. The curb area was damp, but not wet enough to make me believe that it was the reason for the leak. I don't think that replacing and waterproofing the curb area will solve the problem. It was the most logical place to start, and the curb needed to be replaced as it was badly damaged. I do not recommend replacing the curb as I did here and that is why I did not give detailed instructions on how to do this. In my opinion the only way to solve the issues with this shower is to rip it out and replace it. I do not normally do repairs of any kind to other peoples work, however this was a friend and he wanted to take a shot at this.
