Het is gebeurd! KAA Gent heeft zich voor het eerst in zijn geschiedenis tot kampioen van België gekroond! Op de voorlaatste speeldag van Play-Off 1 zorgde Kums na een ruim kwartier voor de openingstreffer, waarna de nervositeit de overhand nam. Na rust kwam Gent terug aan voetballen toe en Neto zorgde voor ademruimte vanop elf meter. Sels greep nog enkele keren cruciaal in, waarna Gent de controle hield tot het ultieme laatste fluitsignaal: KAMPIOEN !!
