In this edition of Tarikh, Nikhil talks about Anti-Sikh Riots that took place in various parts of India’s capital, New Delhi in 1984. More than 3000 Sikhs died as a result of these riots. Indira Gandhi, Prime Minister of India was assassinated on October 31, by her two Sikh bodyguards, in revenge for Operation Blue Star. 100’s of survivors and human rights groups had claimed that the pogrom was orchestrated by Congress Party officials with the help of Delhi administration and police. Till today most of the culprits in Police, local Administration and Congress Party leaders remain unpunished.
