Breaking apart wood glue joints— easy disassembly of stubborn glue.

Here I show a more gentle way of breaking loose old and tough glue joints that are wobbly but don't want to completely let go. Using a rubber mallet can sometimes break the joints or joining parts in a way that causes more damage. Spreading clamps are normally used but you can only do so much by hand.

These have been re-glued with a PVA type glue probably the yellow water proof version. That makes them extremely tough to disassemble. Steam helps but constant pressure is the key. Adding acetone and vinegar helps but wet and/or dry heat is the key to loosening the old glue.
