ITER: Inauguration of the SPIDER ion source

Neutral beam injection relies on beams of high-speed, high-energy atoms that penetrate into the plasma, initiating collisions and transferring their energy. Before installing two neutral beam injectors on ITER, key technologies are being tested at the PRIMA Neutral Beam Test Facility in Padua, Italy.
