Control Your Thoughts: Overcome Fear with Visualization
Our brains don't know the difference between what's really happening and what we're visualizing is happening.
Think about that.
✨️ Your brain will believe any thought you tell it and it will tell the body how to react/respond. Choose your thoughts wisely. You have the ability to learn how to control every single thought you have and never think thoughts you don't want to.
✨️ You can visualize the thing you're afraid of (e.g. speaking in front of large audiences, creating a new circle of friends, speaking up in a board meeting, presenting your ideas to your boss, etc) and work through all the fears and blocks BEFORE you attempt to do the thing so that you're at peace when you do it.
✨️ You can train your brain to have a different response to the thing that used to scare you. For example, if you are afraid to do public speaking: you can imagine yourself on stage, and you can see the audience engaged before you, you can feel how amazing it feels to tell your story to them, and how much love you feel coming back to you. You can imagine how calm and centered you feel, how at ease you are, and how grateful you are for the opportunity to share your story before them. The more you visualize the scene happening, in a way you want it to unfold, the more you are training your brain to accept the new way as real and true. You are creating a new picture for your brain to work with. And the more your brain is familiar with speaking in front of a large audience (imagined or real), the less "fear signals" it sends to the body when you really do get up and speak.
Here's the science: Neurons that fire together, wire together. Every time you have a thought, you are firing neurons in your brain. The more times you have the same thought, your brain builds a new neural pathway. This neural pathway becomes your "intelligence" ... your way of thinking and being. You can create new neural pathways, new intelligence, every day on anything and everything.
You have that power, you really do.
And it's amazing to use.
