Something I wrote for a Cousin of my Family who lived in New Hampshire. He spent a great deal of time in the Jungle and was one of the "Lucky" ones that returned home. He came home with a massive(undiagnosed and untreated) dose of PTSD.

The year he returned he was getting getting back to a "normal" life. My Parents and I took a trip to New Hampshire. I was 10 or 11. Nothing strange or out of the ordinary. He took me fishing. There were moments things weren't right. I was no Doctor Phil at 10, so I was just trying to keep from throwing the fishing rod into the lake or tipping the boat. There were a couple minutes that I was uncomfortable between his anger and his boat navigation.

Within a month of us leaving New Hampshire, we learned he was hospitalized after driving his car into his parents farm house and then setting it on fire.

He got help, moved to Texas, but we or I never heard from him again. I did get some correspondence that he lived a decent life and was married. I don't remember the date, but in 2014/15 I learned he had died.
