Window Cleaning Made Easy

Armed with a plastic pail, a soft brush, a hose with a nozzle, and a solution of Mr. Hardware’s' window magic your project can be a cakewalk.

Window magic is a gallon of warm water with 2 tablespoons T.S.P. (Trisodium Phosphate, a H.D. cleaner), 1/2 cup vinegar, and one drop of liquid soap (any kind). This is not my recipe, nor is it new; window washers have been using this formula or variations of it since the '40's.

I attach a soft brush (truck washing brush) to a broom handle so I can reach the whole window from the ground, why work off a ladder or get my hands wet unless I have to. I spray the window with water first then apply the mixture, now I leave it and go to the next window and repeat the application, then go back to the previous window and reapply the solution this time also washing the trim. What I have found is the product works better if it is on the surface for about 10 minutes.

Rinse and you’re done or for a cleaner window use a squeegee and a clean towel you can polish the window to perfection.

Washing the screens on the driveway with the same procedures as above gets the spider crud and dirt for a clean start into the winter.

A tough chore made easier thanks to basic home cleaners.
