How to Mount Your Own Skis
This step by step video demonstrates a few of the foolproof tricks I use when mounting my own skis. There's no reason why anyone with a little confidence and some simple tools can't mount their own skis. Let me know how your next mount job goes, or what tricks you use to get the job done.

Tips for identifying pre-drill bit size:
-A general rule when sizing a bit is to use a bit that is roughly the diameter of the core of the screw to be used (central core excluding the peaks of the threads).
-Always test your pre-drill hole size in hardwood (or species similar to the core wood of the ski) prior to drilling your skis.
Tips for initial layout:
-Utilize a flat ruler to accurately mark across the width of the ski to determine center-line (left-right).
-Measure and mark the left-right center-line in multiple locations, keeping in mind the ski width varies across its length.
-To mark front-back center, hook a tape measure to the ski tip and measure back half the ski length to a speed square or right-angle tool. This enables the tape to hover above the ski in parallel to the topsheet and transfer the mid-length measurement from the tape down to the ski with greater precision.
My disclaimers:
A ski binding is a critical safty component of the ski system. Improper mounting and setup can result in injury to the yourself or the ski. If you are unable to take accurate measurements and work with precision, do not do this. If you donn't have the competence to operate basic tools, do not mount your own skis. Do not mount your own skis to save money, you should be doing this because you enjoy the process and the freedom of doing things yourself. If you cant afford a professional mount job, consider getting a cheaper ski, or better yet try snowboarding.
